Review Policy

Who can write a review

You need a Gopedia account to write a review. A review has a rating from one to five, a title, and your account of the experience, and you can add up to three photos. You can review destinations, hotels, things to do, and travel companies.

Every review is checked before it appears

Our team reads every new review before it is published, and reviews it again whenever it is edited. We do not change what you wrote; we either publish the review or decline it. Photos attached to a review appear only once the review is published.

What we do not publish

• Reviews that are fake, paid for, or written in exchange for a discount, gift, or free stay.
• Reviews by owners, staff, or competitors of the place being reviewed.
• Reviews that are not about your own experience.
• Abusive, hateful, threatening, or sexually explicit content.
• Personal details such as phone numbers, addresses, or other people's full names.
• Advertising, spam, or links to other businesses.

We cannot confirm that every reviewer stayed at a hotel or booked with a company, so we look for signs of fake or coordinated reviews and remove any we find, including after they have been published.

Businesses cannot buy or remove reviews

No hotel, company, or other business can pay to add, remove, hide, or reorder reviews. A business that believes a review breaks this policy can contact us, and we will check it against the rules above, the same way we would for anyone else.

Editing or removing your review

You can edit your reviews from Your reviews; an edited review is checked again before the new version appears. To take a review down, send us a removal request from the same page with a short reason, and our team will handle it.

Helpful votes

Signed-in travellers can mark a review as helpful, once per review. Votes help other readers find useful reviews; they do not change a place's rating.

Community discussions

Posts and comments in community discussions appear as soon as they are posted. The rules above apply to them too, and our team removes any that break them.
